Icetex announces interest rate relief for 64,000 Colombian students
The Colombian government has announced a temporary reduction in interest rates for Icetex student loans, benefiting 64,904 students nationwide. The measure, supported by 49.33 billion pesos in national resources, will be reflected in October payment receipts.
Under this relief, selected students will pay an interest rate equal to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus zero points, effectively removing additional interest charges. To qualify, students must be currently enrolled in an academic program and be up to date with their payments, or have a delinquency of no more than 30 days.
Icetex President Richard Caicedo stated that these measures aim to improve credit conditions for those currently studying or who have recently finished their studies. This initiative follows a suspension of interest rate subsidies that had been in place since the first semester of 2025.
