ICEYE partners with The Water Institute for predictive flood intelligence

ICEYE, a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation operator, has partnered with The Water Institute to integrate the predictive flood intelligence platform FloodID into its operations. The platform, which utilizes Amazon Web Services, combines machine learning, physics-based hydrologic modeling, and Earth observation data to forecast flood evolution from onset to recession.

The integration aims to provide high-value intelligence for the insurance and reinsurance sectors. By combining FloodID’s predictive capabilities with ICEYE’s satellite observations, the system can offer a dynamic, continuously updated view of flood progression. This allows for monitoring portfolio accumulation up to 96 hours before an event and provides near real-time data on water depth and building-level damage during active floods, even through cloud cover, rain, and darkness.
