Ichiro Suzuki promotes women's baseball at Tokyo Dome exhibition

Ichiro Suzuki participated in the sixth annual ‘SATO presents High School Girls' Baseball Selection vs. Ichiro Selection KOBE CHIBEN’ at the Tokyo Dome, an event aimed at promoting women's baseball. The match drew 25,088 spectators.

While the Ichiro Selection won the game 7-0, Ichiro noted the rapidly improving skill level of the female players. He specifically praised Rin Fukuda, an infielder from Kobe Ryo High School, who recorded three hits in four at-bats against him. Ichiro described Fukuda as a player who “changes the atmosphere” when stepping into the batter's box.

Pitcher Yuna Yamato, also from Kobe Ryo High School, earned praise from Ichiro for her breaking balls. Ichiro remarked on the increasing velocity and quality of pitching in the women's game, noting that the level of competition is rising significantly.
