Ichu woman reports domestic violence and assault by partner

A 19-year-old woman was assaulted by her partner in the municipality of Ichu, Bahia, during the early hours of Monday. According to police reports, the victim suffered facial injuries and nasal bleeding. The attack reportedly occurred because the woman attempted to end the relationship.

In addition to the physical violence, the suspect allegedly damaged the victim's cellphone and took her motorcycle keys to prevent her from fleeing to her mother's house in Conceição do Coité. The Military Police responded to the scene after a neighbor reported hearing cries for help. The victim was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and a forensic report. The case has been registered as domestic violence under the Maria da Penha Law. Authorities are currently searching for the suspect.
