Icons Series Golf Tournament to Launch in South Africa in December 2026

The globally‑branded Icons Series will make its African debut with the inaugural Icons Cup South Africa, a three‑day team match‑play golf event scheduled for 11–13 December 2026 at The Links at Fancourt in George, South Africa. Twenty‑eight elite athletes from cricket, rugby, football and other sports will form two squads – Team South Africa and Team World – to compete on the golf course. Former major champion Ernie Els captains the home side, while two‑time Masters winner José María Olazábal leads the international team. Confirmed participants include former South African cricket captain AB de Villiers, Springbok rugby star Fourie du Preez, ex‑Chelsea and England football captain John Terry, and West Indies batting legend Brian Lara. The tournament will be broadcast live to more than 150 countries, blending high‑stakes sport with digital entertainment and aiming to attract thousands of spectators and a global television audience.
