Icotrokinra shows sustained psoriasis clearance in 2-year trial

New phase 3 clinical data from the ICONIC-TOTAL trial, presented at the 2026 European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress, shows that the oral peptide icotrokinra maintains psoriasis clearance for up to two years.

Icotrokinra, developed by Johnson & Johnson, is a once-daily oral medication that blocks the interleukin (IL)-23 receptor. The study focused on patients with moderate psoriasis in high-impact areas, including the scalp, genitals, hands, and feet—sites that often resist topical treatments.

At week 112, the trial reported significant site-specific clearance rates: 60% for scalp psoriasis, 89% for genital psoriasis, and 63% for hand and/or foot psoriasis. The data indicated sustained efficacy with no new safety signals identified throughout the 112-week period.
