ICPC initiates workforce audit and anti-corruption training

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is implementing new measures to strengthen integrity and operational efficiency within Nigeria.

In Maiduguri, the ICPC conducted an anti-corruption education workshop for 100 staff members of the Lake Chad Research Institute (LCRI). The session focused on ethical conduct, transparency, and professional accountability. LCRI Executive Director Professor Babagana Kabir and Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner Linus Gubbi emphasized that corruption threatens research development and food security in the Lake Chad Basin by undermining the management of public resources and research grants.

Separately, ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu announced a comprehensive workforce and structural audit of the Commission itself. The audit aims to correct personnel imbalances caused by irregular recruitment patterns since 2002. The exercise will evaluate the Commission’s approved structure against its actual deployment to ensure staff levels are properly aligned with its anti-corruption mandate and operational needs.
