ICPC investigator testifies in corruption trial of former minister Uche Nnaji

During a trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja, an investigator from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) testified that both the University of Nigeria (UNN) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) disowned certificates presented by former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji.

Superintendent of Police Yakubu Ibrahim, acting as a prosecution witness, stated that the ICPC investigated petitions alleging that Nnaji provided forged university degrees and national service certificates during his 2023 ministerial screening. The investigation involved verifying a Bachelor of Science certificate in Microbiology/Biochemistry with UNN and a discharge certificate from the NYSC. According to the witness, UNN confirmed it did not issue the degree to Nnaji, and the NYSC similarly disowned the service certificate.

Nnaji faces a six-count charge involving allegations of corruption, fraud, conferring corrupt advantage, and providing false information.
