ICPC strengthens anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is intensifying efforts to strengthen institutional integrity and accountability across various Nigerian agencies.

In Ondo State, the ICPC has called for closer collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to protect public revenue. Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner Tiku Andrew Menge emphasized that ethical conduct in border management and trade facilitation is essential to prevent revenue leakages and maintain public trust. The Commission advocated for increased use of technology and automation to reduce discretionary human intervention and improve accountability within Customs administration.

In Abuja, the ICPC inaugurated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Aliyu stated that the unit is designed to complement NYSC management by strengthening internal accountability and promoting ethical conduct. The newly inducted members have been tasked with monitoring budget implementation and conducting anti-corruption awareness training to safeguard public resources within the organization.
