ICRT and Uberlândia Medical Center launch robotic urology training
The Instituto de Cirurgia Robótica do Triângulo (ICRT), in partnership with the Uberlândia Medical Center (UMC), has launched a specialized course and certification program in robotic urological surgery. Designed exclusively for urologists, the program aims to provide training, professional improvement, and certification in the field.
Coordinated by urologists Dr. Victor Hugo Borges Silva and Dr. Leandro Alves de Oliveira, the curriculum includes three distinct modalities: Basic, Intensive, and Advanced. The training utilizes the da Vinci robotic platform and includes simulator training, surgical center experience, and supervised practice.
Dr. Victor Hugo Borges Silva noted that robotic surgery requires a learning curve that extends beyond platform mastery, necessitating a deep understanding of technology, simulator skills, and surgical team dynamics. The Basic course, for example, lasts three months and includes conceptual training, 10 hours of virtual simulator training, and observation of 10 robotic surgeries.
