Ida Amelie Robsahm dies after fall in Norway
Norwegian trail runner Ida Amelie Robsahm has died at age 30 following a fall on the Romsdalseggen ridge in Rauma, Norway. The accident occurred on Saturday, September 19, while she was training near the summit.
Emergency services responded via helicopter, but despite medical intervention, the injuries sustained from the fall of several dozen meters proved fatal. Robsahm was a prominent figure in the international trail running community and a member of the Asics Trail Team.
Her recent athletic achievements included a second-place finish at the Marathon du Mont-Blanc, a fourth-place finish at the Zegama-Aizkorri race, and fifth place at the OCC in the UTMB series. She also held a notable marathon time of 2:29:57 from the Valencia Marathon.
The running community has expressed profound grief. Her teammate and friend, Spanish runner Sara Alonso, and her coach, Sindre Buraas, both shared tributes to her character and athletic talent. Asics also released a statement mourning the loss of an “extraordinary athlete and teammate.”
