Idaf launches educational caravans to protect Acre's crops

The Acre Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Defense (Idaf) is conducting educational caravans in Cruzeiro do Sul to strengthen plant sanitary defense. The program includes the 4th Educational Caravan for the Prevention and Combat of Cocoa and Cupuaçu Moniliasis, alongside the 1st Educational Caravan for the Prevention and Combat of Cassava Witches' Broom.

Targeting agronomists, researchers, students, and rural producers, the initiative combines lectures at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) with practical field activities in the municipalities of Mâncio Lima and Rodrigues Alves. These efforts aim to improve technical knowledge, monitoring, and rapid response to agricultural pests and diseases.

Since the first identification of moniliasis in the state in July 2021, Idaf has implemented monitoring, sanitary pruning, and inspection measures to contain the spread, particularly in the Juruá region.
