Idaho and Britain see rising antisemitism

In Idaho, the state police recorded seven religion‑based hate crimes in 2025, two of which targeted Jews – a community that makes up about 0.3% of the state's population but accounts for roughly 29% of those incidents. Moshe Herman, former director of the Idaho Jewish Alliance, said the small sample size makes statistical conclusions difficult, yet the pattern mirrors national trends. He cited anti‑Israel protesters at a recent alliance event, Nazi graffiti on a highway overpass, and antisemitic markings on a Jewish gravestone as examples of ongoing hostility, while noting strong support from local churches, officials and law‑enforcement.

In Britain, the Community Security Trust recorded 1,926 antisemitic incidents between January and June 2026, a 21% rise on the same period in 2025 and the second‑highest six‑month total ever. Every month saw over 200 reports, with March, April and May each exceeding 350. The surge included arson attacks on Jewish communal organisations, the stabbing of two visibly Jewish men in Golders Green, and a general increase in online and public antisemitic rhetoric. The CST warned that antisemitism has shifted from a temporary spike to a persistent backdrop for British Jews.
