Idaho communities organize riverfront cleanup initiatives

Community cleanup initiatives are underway in Idaho to maintain local riverfronts and natural resources. In Idaho Falls, more than 200 volunteers from Melaleuca partnered with the City Parks and Recreation Department for the fourth annual cleanup of the Idaho Falls Greenbelt. The effort focused on removing trash, overgrown brush, and invasive trees along the Riverwalk to improve safety and sightlines. Officials noted that the large volunteer force completed tasks that would typically require weeks of municipal labor in a single afternoon.

In Pocatello, the city is organizing its annual Portneuf River Cleanup. The event aims to remove trash and large debris, such as logjams, to preserve the river as a natural asset and tourism tool. Volunteers are encouraged to assist in clearing litter to maintain the area for wildlife and public enjoyment.
