Idaho Fish and Game euthanize two moose near Pocatello interchange
Idaho Fish and Game officials lethally removed two adult moose from the I-15 and I-86 interchange in Pocatello on Friday, October 23. The cow and bull moose were located on the island space between the two interstates, posing a significant threat to motorists.
Officials stated that the decision to euthanize the animals was made to prioritize public safety. Regional Conservation Officer Tim Klucken noted that while such actions are difficult, the risk of a high-speed collision or the danger of a darted animal bolting into oncoming traffic made lethal removal necessary. One of the moose had previously been captured and relocated from the Chubbuck area.
