Idaho highway fatalities spike during summer 2026
A review of Idaho’s ‘100 Deadliest Days of Summer’ in 2026 reveals a significant number of highway fatalities. While the Idaho State Police reported 57 deaths across 52 fatal accidents, actual figures are believed to be closer to 100 due to uncounted incidents.
Pickup truck accidents were a major factor, accounting for nearly half of the fatalities. Other notable statistics include 19 deaths involving motorcycles, e-bikes, and ATVs, and eight deaths involving semi-trucks. The fatal pickup truck accidents were noted to have begun and ended in the Sagle area.
