Idaho hikers complete 10-year journey to scale all 44 county peaks
Ben Nickell and Anne Koski, a couple from Pocatello, Idaho, have successfully reached the highest point in all 44 counties across the state. The journey, which began by accident in 2016, concluded in September 2026 with a challenging 22-hour hike to Bare Peak Northwest on the Idaho-Montana border.
Nickell and Koski are among only 15 people to have achieved this feat. Throughout their decade-long endeavor, they encountered various difficulties, including remote backcountry locations, rugged terrain, and wildlife encounters, such as mountain goats near Sandpoint.
