Netflix released the three‑part docuseries “The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare” (also titled “Los asesinatos de Idaho: Pesadilla en la universidad”) on 29 July 2026. The series recounts the November 2022 stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students – Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin – in a rental house near the campus in Moscow, Idaho. It combines previously unseen police footage, text‑message records and interviews with victims’ families to reconstruct the investigation that led to the arrest of Bryan Kohberger, a graduate‑student in criminology.

Kohberger was arrested on 30 December 2022, pleaded guilty in July 2025, and was sentenced to four consecutive life terms without parole plus ten years. He is currently incarcerated at Idaho Maximum Security Prison in Boise, serving his sentence in a high‑security cell. In 2026 he announced plans to withdraw his guilty plea, claiming he was coerced, and filed a petition to overturn his conviction.

The docuseries quickly rose to the top of Netflix’s global most‑watched list, appearing in the top rankings of more than 40 countries within days of its debut. Viewers have described it as “heartbreaking”, “chilling” and “very disturbing”, with strong emotional reactions on social media. The series also addresses lingering questions, such as whether Kohberger knew any of the victims and details like the fate of Kaylee Goncalves’s dog, Murphy.
