Idaho solar farm begins supplying power to Meta's new data center
A 125‑megawatt solar facility, Pleasant Valley Solar 2, was brought online in Ada County, Idaho, by rPlus Energies. The project is part of a larger renewable build‑out that includes the under‑construction 400‑megawatt Blacks Creek Energy Center, together delivering about 725 megawatts of peak capacity.
Idaho Power has an agreement for Meta Platforms to purchase the full output of Pleasant Valley 2, along with two other nearby solar projects, to power Meta's planned $800 million data center in Kuna. The solar farms represent more than $750 million in state investment, create hundreds of construction jobs, and will add to Idaho's renewable share, which now provides roughly 9 percent of the state's electricity.
State officials say the added capacity helps address rapidly rising electricity demand, improves grid reliability, and reduces reliance on fossil‑fuel generation, offering both economic and environmental benefits for Idaho residents and businesses.
