Idaho State defeats Southern Utah 28-24

The Idaho State Bengals defeated the Southern Utah Thunderbirds 28-24 in Cedar City, Utah, improving their season record to 4-0. The victory moves the Bengals to 1-0 in the Big Sky Conference and maintains their 14th ranking in the Stats Perform poll.

Chedon James led the Bengals with seven receptions for 134 yards, including a decisive 43-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter that reclaimed the lead. Quarterback Jordan Cooke contributed two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown, finishing 15-of-25 for 203 yards.

Southern Utah initially led 10-0 before Idaho State responded. The Thunderbirds rallied in the fourth quarter behind scoring runs from Will Burns and Floyd Chalk to take a 24-21 lead. However, the Bengals' defense secured the win with a fumble recovery by Jackson Daniels and a final fourth-down sack by Nathan Abbott. Floyd Chalk recorded 159 rushing yards for Southern Utah during the contest.
