Idaho State Police investigate pedestrian injury and fatal vehicle fire

Two separate traffic-related incidents have been reported by the Idaho State Police.

In Post Falls, a 56-year-old female pedestrian sustained severe injuries after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing Highway 41 near Mullan Avenue on the evening of October 8. The vehicle, a silver 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 towing a trailer, was driven by a 52-year-old woman from Spokane, Washington. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, and the incident remains under investigation.

In a separate incident near Ashton, a juvenile died and two adults were hospitalized following a vehicle fire on US Highway 20 on October 9. A 2003 Chevy 2500 pickup towing a livestock trailer reportedly overheated at the top of Ashton Hill, causing the vehicle to ignite. The occupants included a 26-year-old man from Thayne, Wyoming, a 23-year-old woman from Rexburg, and a juvenile. The fire caused a three-hour closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes on US Highway 20 while emergency crews cleared the scene.
