Idaho Supreme Court approves revised text for Proposition One

The Idaho Supreme Court has approved revised text for Proposition One, a ballot initiative focused on reproductive rights and personal healthcare decisions. Justice Gregory Moeller noted that the previous “yes” statement failed to fully explain the initiative, while the “no” statement did not accurately reflect current Idaho laws. The revised “yes” statement supports creating a right to abortion before fetal viability—defined as the ability to survive without extraordinary medical measures—and after viability in medical emergencies, while providing legal protections for healthcare providers.

Campaign finance reports indicate over $1.25 million in out-of-state donations has been directed toward the initiative. Additionally, the US Court of Appeals is reviewing whether to maintain the enforcement of existing Idaho abortion bans following oral arguments involving the Alliance Defending Freedom.
