Idaho voters to consider advisory question on official state gun
An advisory question, House Bill 932, will appear on the Idaho midterm ballot this November, allowing voters to express an opinion on which firearm should be designated as the official state gun. The measure is non-binding, meaning the state legislature would still need to vote on the outcome during the next session for it to become official.
Several firearm options are presented to voters, including the Winchester Model 1894, the Winchester Model 1873, the 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver, the M1 Garand rifle, the Colt M1911 pistol, and the Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle. The designation is expected to serve as a symbolic gesture rather than a policy change, as it will not impact the availability, price, or legality of any specific firearm.
