IdeaPaís holds seminar in Temuco to reflect on Chilean social unrest

The research center IdeaPaís organized a seminar titled ‘Ecos del 18-O’ in Temuco to reflect on the social unrest in Chile as its seventh anniversary approaches. The event aimed to review historical lessons, discuss democratic coexistence, and identify future political challenges for the country.

The discussion panel included former minister Karla Rubilar, deputy José Montalva, and political scientist Jorge Cordero. Participants debated the various interpretations regarding the factors that triggered the unrest and analyzed how both left-wing and right-wing political factions responded to the events. Rubilar also provided a testimonial account of the period from her perspective within the government.
