IDEAYA Biosciences and Genentech partner on pancreatic cancer clinical trial

IDEAYA Biosciences and Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, have entered into a clinical collaboration to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combination therapy for pancreatic cancer. The Phase 1 study will test IDEAYA’s investigational PRMT5 inhibitor, IDE892, alongside Genentech’s KRAS G12D inhibitor, GDC-7035 (RG6620).

The trial targets patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) that harbor both an MTAP deletion and a KRAS G12D mutation. Genentech will sponsor the clinical trial, while IDEAYA will supply the IDE892 compound. The study will be managed under joint governance.

IDE892 is described as a potential best-in-class MTA-cooperative PRMT5 inhibitor, demonstrating approximately 1,400-fold selectivity for MTA-PRMT5 versus SAM-PRMT5 cooperative binding. The drug is also noted for having favorable drug-like properties and a lack of brain penetrance to maximize its therapeutic window.
