IDF Chief of Staff raises military alert ahead of elections
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has announced a high state of alert across multiple fronts to ensure the security of upcoming democratic elections and prevent external interference. During a large-scale training exercise with the Gaza Division, Zamir emphasized that the lessons learned from the October 7, 2023, attacks remain central to military operations.
Zamir noted the necessity of addressing “blind spots” in surveillance and maintaining constant readiness to prevent future intelligence or operational failures. He stated that while adversaries have suffered significant strikes, they continue to plan attacks, prompting the IDF to adopt a proactive, forward-defense approach to neutralize threats before they materialize.
To bolster security, the military has implemented several measures, including a travel ban on soldiers starting this Thursday, increased troop presence in the West Bank, and the deployment of additional forces across land, air, and sea. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also reviewed military readiness at an air force base, affirming the forces' capability to strike adversaries.
