IDF demolishes Palestinian home in Tell following July deadly confrontation
The Israeli military has demolished the home of Farouk Ramadan in the village of Tell, West Bank. The demolition follows a deadly confrontation on July 24, which occurred after a group of Israelis encountered Palestinian residents in the area.
During the July 24 incident, Ramadan seized a rifle from Benayahu Mellet, a civil defense squad member. Ramadan then opened fire, resulting in the death of IDF Major Yuval Ezra. Mellet was also killed during the firefight; an IDF investigation indicated he may have been struck by friendly fire during the attempt to stop the gunman. Ramadan was killed by Ezra before the latter succumbed to his wounds.
The demolition of Ramadan's residence, which included an apartment where he lived with his wife and five daughters, was carried out in less than two weeks following the event. The operation involved approximately 30 military vehicles and engineering teams.
