IDF discovers Hezbollah rocket launcher and tunnel in southern Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported discovering a Hezbollah fighting position in the southern Lebanon security zone, which included a tunnel shaft and a rocket launcher loaded with 32 rockets. The military stated these weapons were aimed toward Israeli territory and had been left in place prior to the current ceasefire. The IDF destroyed the site, including the launchers and the underground shaft.
In a separate development, Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar stated that Lebanon is engaged in direct negotiations with Israel under United States auspices. The goal of these talks is to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, the deployment of the Lebanese army, and the return of residents to their villages.
Meanwhile, the IDF announced the completion of an eight-month mission by the 401st Brigade in southern Lebanon. The military claims the operation dismantled over 1,200 Hezbollah infrastructure sites, including extensive tunnel networks, and located more than 600 weapons.
