IDF investigates arson at Jewish holy site in Samaria

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have dispatched troops to the village of Awarta in Samaria to search for suspects following the arson of a Jewish holy site. The site, identified as the traditional tomb of Eleazar the High Priest, was set on fire overnight between October 20 and 21.

No injuries were reported during the incident. Judea and Samaria District Police and forensic investigators are working under IDF protection to collect evidence and testimony. While suspects fled before military arrival, security forces stated they are working to locate those responsible.

The Israel Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, describing it as part of a wave of violence targeting Jewish heritage. The Judea and Samaria Situation Room reported that footage of the act circulated on social media, accompanied by messages glorifying the incident.
