Idoma diaspora leaders urge investment and restraint at UK convention

At the maiden convention of the Idoma Community United Kingdom in London, leaders addressed economic development and security concerns within the Idoma nation.

Dr. Adogo F. Iwodi urged the Idoma diaspora to move beyond cultural celebrations and invest in their ancestral homeland. He encouraged professionals in Europe, America, Canada, and Asia to contribute expertise and resources to sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, and technology to create sustainable employment for local youth.

Meanwhile, ICUK President Obande appealed to Idoma youths to cease the practice of bringing the bodies of attack victims to the Och’Idoma’s palace as a form of protest. He clarified that the paramount ruler is not the Chief Security Officer of Benue State and lacks the authority or budget to command military or police forces, urging citizens to direct security demands to elected government officials instead.
