Idoma people report marginalization in Benue State

The Idoma people in Benue State are expressing increasing concerns regarding political and socioeconomic marginalization. There is a growing perception that public opportunities, including infrastructural development, educational opportunities, institutional leadership, and security assurance, are being disproportionately allocated to Tiv-speaking areas.

This sense of exclusion has become more pronounced under the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia. Critics suggest that the distribution of state attention and public appointments appears skewed, undermining the principle of collective ownership within the state. The perceived lack of equitable treatment in government appointments and academic spheres has raised questions regarding the neutrality and inclusivity of the current administration.
