IDOMED medical students to graduate as first class of volunteer rescuers in Corupá

On August 22, 45 medical students from IDOMED (Instituto de Educação Médica) Jaraguá do Sul will graduate as the first class of volunteer rescuers. This initiative is a partnership with the Corupá Volunteer Fire Department.

The Volunteer Rescuer Training Project involves students from their first and second semesters. Over approximately one year, participants undergo structured training that includes theoretical instruction at the medical faculty, practical training with the volunteer firefighters, and internships within the corporation.

According to Rony Augusto de Oliveira, the coordinator of the IDOMED Jaraguá do Sul medical course, the program allows students to experience different stages of patient care. He noted that understanding pre-hospital care is essential for future doctors to provide adequate treatment once they are working within a hospital setting. Beyond technical skills, the program teaches students about hierarchy, discipline, emergency protocols, and the maintenance of ambulances.
