Iğdır Association calls for end to Azerbaijan school headscarf ban
The Iğdır Ehl-i Beyt Alimleri Derneği has issued a formal call for Azerbaijan to lift the ban on headscarves in schools. During a press conference held at Zübeyde Hanım Boulevard, the association expressed strong opposition to the restriction, arguing that it prevents young girls from exercising their right to education based on their religious beliefs.
Association President Kurban Ulusöz and other representatives emphasized the historical, cultural, and religious ties between Turkey and Azerbaijan. The statement noted that forcing students to choose between their faith and their education is incompatible with the principles of a state governed by the rule of law. The association warned that such policies could have negative psychological and social impacts on children.
