Iğdır commemorates 13 police officers killed in 2015 PKK attack
In Iğdır, ceremonies were held to commemorate the 13 police officers killed in a PKK terrorist attack on September 8, 2015. The attack occurred when a remote-controlled bomb was detonated near the Dilucu Border Gate as a vehicle transporting officers passed by.
The memorial services included religious programs at the Ulucami and Hacı Hacer mosques, followed by a ceremony at the Dilucu Martyrs Monument. Local officials, including Iğdır Governor Mustafa Fırat Taşolar and Provincial Police Chief Niyazi Turgay, attended the event alongside military personnel and citizens.
During the ceremony, Police Chief Niyazi Turgay emphasized the sacrifice of the officers, stating that their dedication serves as a guide in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminal organizations to protect the nation.
