Iğdır Journalists Association criticizes media accreditation practices

İsmail Aras, President of the Iğdır Journalists Association, has criticized current accreditation processes for official programs and events in Iğdır, claiming they create unfair advantages for national media.

Aras argued that while national media outlets often profit from news content, the primary labor and risk of reporting are undertaken by local journalists. He noted that in Iğdır, a limited number of national representatives are invited to events, while established local newspapers and digital news sites with significant staff and employment are being excluded.

Calling for transparency, Aras urged local administrators and officials to coordinate accreditation with the Directorate of Communications and the Press Advertisement Agency. He warned that if these discriminatory practices continue, the association will escalate the issue to higher authorities through its affiliated federations and confederations.
