Idris Elba stars in new sci-fi thriller Above the Below

A trailer has been released for the new science fiction survival thriller ‘Above the Below’, starring Idris Elba alongside Caitlin FitzGerald and Hero Fiennes Tiffin. The film follows three astronauts who survive a catastrophic space mission only to face a new crisis when their damaged capsule crash-lands in the ocean.

Trapped deep underwater with no communication from mission control and rapidly depleting oxygen supplies, the crew must fight to survive the crushing depths. Idris Elba serves a dual role in the production, acting as the lead astronaut, Jackson, and co-directing the film with Martin Owen.

To enhance realism, the production utilized a practical approach, filming many scenes underwater at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom rather than relying solely on digital effects. The film is presented by Lionsgate.
