İdris Naim Şahin's assigned vehicles linked to Alihan Kuriş crime probe

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is expanding its investigation into the Alihan Kuriş organized crime group, uncovering new details regarding the misuse of vehicles assigned to former Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin.

Authorities discovered that multiple vehicles assigned to Şahin were used in suspicious activities. This includes a vehicle used to transport fugitives Hilmi Tuna Kuriş and Erhan Yücel in Muğla. Investigations revealed that one vehicle was leased to Şahin for a symbolic annual fee of 1,000 Turkish Liras until 2030.

Further scrutiny identified two additional vehicles (plates 34 S 7815 and 34 RM 8677) that were allegedly used for purposes other than their intended use. One of these vehicles was reportedly used by Ömer Sipahioğlu, who has since fled to Germany. Another individual, Ömür Yücel, a former staff member of the Ministry of Interior's Private Secretariat, has been detained.

The investigation follows a large-scale operation that resulted in the seizure of approximately 1.34 billion TL in assets, including 200 kilograms of gold bullion. The probe is examining financial and commercial links between the criminal organization and various companies across multiple sectors.
