Anwar Ibrahim announces funding for Islamic education and addresses royal dispute

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM3.05 million allocation to strengthen Islamic education in Kedah. This includes RM2.8 million for infrastructure repairs at 14 institutions and RM250,000 for the implementation of the Khatam Hadis Sunan Sittah and Musthola Hadis program. During a spiritual gathering at Pondok Mujamma’ Ibnu Sunni Al-Talaqqi, Anwar emphasized the importance of elevating the status of pondok education to ensure progress is guided by faith and morality.

Separately, the Prime Minister addressed the dispute regarding the position of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. He stated that he would not interfere in the matter, asserting that any resolution must strictly follow the state Constitution and legal processes. He noted that under Malaysia’s constitutional monarchy, the removal of a Ruler cannot be done arbitrarily.

On a personal note, Anwar is mourning the passing of his elder brother, Idrus Ibrahim, who died at age 83. Minister Steven Sim expressed his condolences, recalling Idrus’ impact as a teacher and mentor during his school years.
