IDScan confirms massive data breach affecting 150 million people
IDScan, a US-based identity verification specialist, has confirmed a massive cyberattack on its cloud infrastructure. The breach has compromised the personal information and identity documents of more than 150 million people across the United States and Canada.
The stolen data includes full names, driver's license numbers, and associated photographs. Reports indicate that a dark web platform named Nexus previously offered access to scans of 153 million driver's licenses, along with millions of other identity and medical cards.
The breach is significant due to the inclusion of data belonging to high-profile government officials, including the US Secretary of Defense. The FBI is currently investigating the incident, and the company is facing multiple class-action lawsuits.
