IDScan.net confirms data breach affecting 153 million driver's licenses

Identity verification provider IDScan.net has confirmed a data breach involving its VeriScan platform, where an unauthorized third party gained access to a portion of its cloud environment. The breach occurred between April 4, 2026, and September 2, 2026.

The compromised data may include full names, contact information, dates of birth, driver’s licenses, passports, and government-issued ID numbers for up to 153 million individuals across the United States and Canada. The specific categories of leaked information depend on how individual customer organizations utilized the VeriScan platform.

The incident was brought to light after cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs reported a hacker claiming to sell access to the stolen records on a Russian cybercrime forum. In response, IDScan.net is offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection to affected consumers in the US and Canada.
