Idyros Ancient City faces threat from proposed hotel project
Esmaül Hüsna Aslan, head of Environmental, Urban and Cultural Policies for the Zafer Party, has raised concerns regarding a proposed hotel project near the İdyros Ancient City and Ayışığı Bay in Kemer, Antalya.
The project reportedly involves a 900-bed capacity hotel spanning approximately 293,000 square meters. Aslan argued that the issue transcends a single investment, framing it as a test of how Turkey protects its cultural heritage, forests, and national parks against investment pressure. She emphasized that historical and natural landscapes are not balance sheet items and cannot be restored once destroyed by construction.
