Iecava residents left without elevators due to safety concerns
Elevator operations have been suspended in two nine-story residential buildings located at Tirgus iela 3 and Tirgus iela 5 in Iecava, Latvia. The decision was made by SIA Bauskas novada komunālserviss following information from the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (PTAC) regarding safety non-compliance.
The issues involve elevators manufactured by Mogilev, which reportedly do not meet safety requirements and pose risks to both users and maintenance personnel. According to the property manager, the identified problems are primarily related to original installation solutions and documentation rather than simple wear and tear or routine maintenance.
An accredited inspection institution will conduct technical evaluations of each elevator to determine the extent of the non-compliance and necessary corrective measures. Service cannot be restored until the technical condition is assessed and all safety requirements are met. A specific date for the resumption of service has not yet been determined.
