IEEQ promotes digital violence prevention in Querétaro

The Electoral Institute of the State of Querétaro (IEEQ) held an event titled ‘Violet Democracy: For Participation Free of Digital Violence’ at the Faculty of Law of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ). Organized by the Commission for Substantive Equality, the initiative aimed to educate students, public servants, and citizens on behaviors that constitute political violence within the electoral context.

During the session, Alma Fabiola Rodríguez Martínez, president of the Commission, presented ‘Anatomy of Digital Violence in the Electoral Sphere.’ This document, produced in coordination with the Querétaro Human Rights Defender’s Office (DDHQ), includes an ‘electoral violentometer’ to help identify progressive digital violence that can escalate into gender-based political violence against women.

Additionally, information security specialist Luis Eduardo Carbajal Jiménez provided a lecture on cybersecurity and self-protection. He emphasized the importance of securing personal digital accounts to prevent identity theft and protect privacy and participation in digital spaces.
