IEFP offers training financial support in Portugal
The Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) provides financial support through the ‘Cheque-Formação’ program to assist both employed individuals and the unemployed in accessing professional training.
Employed workers aged 16 or older can receive up to 175 euros to cover training costs. This support is limited to 50 hours of training over a two-year period, with a maximum rate of 4 euros per hour, and cannot exceed 90% of the actual training cost. Applications can be submitted by the workers themselves or by their employers.
Unemployed individuals who have been registered with the IEFP for at least 90 consecutive days may access higher support, covering up to 500 euros. To qualify, applicants must be at least 16 years old and hold a qualification level between 3 and 6. The training must align with a Personal Qualification Plan (PPQ) established through a professional skills recognition and certification process. While participating in training, unemployed individuals must continue to fulfill active job-seeking requirements.
