Makhtar Diop, Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will visit Ghana from September 15 to 17, 2026. The three-day visit aims to engage government and private sector leaders to discuss mobilizing private capital to support Ghana’s development priorities, strengthen local businesses, and create employment opportunities.

Diop is scheduled to meet with senior government officials, entrepreneurs, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and representatives from the creative sector. Discussions will focus on addressing structural barriers to growth and exploring opportunities in key sectors, including agribusiness, education, renewable energy, industrial development, and the creative economy. The visit is expected to result in several partnership announcements aimed at reinforcing domestic value chains.

The visit highlights a significant increase in the IFC’s financial engagement in the country. In the 2026 fiscal year, the IFC committed $670 million to Ghana through its own account and mobilization, a substantial rise from the $61 million committed in the 2021 fiscal year.
