Ifeanyi Ndukwe unable to play Premier League due to work permit
Liverpool FC defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe will be unable to play in the Premier League this season due to administrative issues regarding his UK work permit. Despite a successful preseason, the 18-year-old Austrian defender, who joined from Austria Wien, does not currently meet the strict criteria required to secure a permit in England.
Ndukwe has impressed during recent friendly matches against Sunderland, Wrexham, Leeds United, and AS Monaco. Media reports noted his composure and aerial dominance, with some outlets highlighting his ability to hold his own alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Due to the permit restrictions, Liverpool is expected to loan the player to another club to allow him to gain the necessary international match experience. In the interim, Ndukwe has been utilized by the coaching staff during the preseason to cover for injured players including Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni.
