Ifeanyi Odii pledges to end child-hawking in Ebonyi State

Dr. Ifeanyi Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2027 Ebonyi State governorship election, has pledged to eradicate child-hawking and child labour within the state. Attributing these issues to poverty and lack of education, Odii proposed establishing skills-acquisition centres across all 13 local government areas. These centres aim to provide vocational training in fields such as carpentry, tailoring, and fishery to approximately 39,000 residents to promote self-employment.

In a separate development, the Ebonyi Markets Traders Movement (EMTM) has officially endorsed Odii as its sole candidate for the 2027 election. Following a council meeting in Abakaliki, the movement cited his competence and commitment to economic empowerment as primary reasons for their support. The traders presented an eight-point economic agenda for the next administration, which includes constructing modern markets, implementing digital payment systems, harmonizing taxes, and establishing export hubs to address stagnant business growth and dilapidated infrastructure.
