Iffezheim hosts Große Woche horse racing festival

The Große Woche horse racing event, organized by Baden Galopp, begins this Saturday in Iffezheim. The five-day meeting features six group races, with the Grand Prix von Baden serving as the highlight on September 2. Total prize money, including breeder premiums, is expected to reach approximately 1.5 million euros.

One of the opening events is the Stall Siepenblick 2. 8 – Steher Cup, a 2,800-meter race with a 30,000 euro purse. The race marks the highly anticipated comeback of Flatten the Curve, a horse trained by Henk Grewe. Although the horse has not yet reached 100 percent fitness following a hiatus since April, trainer Henk Grewe expressed optimism regarding its performance.

Other notable competitors in the Steher Cup include Ittllinger Narrativo, Queimados, Waldadler, and Name Lord. The opening day will consist of eight races, with the first start scheduled for 13:30. Weather conditions for the event are expected to be variable, with forecasts suggesting a mix of sun and rain.
