iFi Audio announces iDSD GR2 MT portable DAC/amp

iFi Audio has announced the iDSD GR2 MT, a Master Tuned version of its iDSD GR2 portable DAC/amp. Developed in collaboration with Grammy and Brit Award-winning producer Steve Levine, the device features significant hardware and component-level upgrades designed to enhance the authenticity and emotion of recorded performances.

Key technical improvements include the replacement of the standard FR-4 circuit board with an aerospace-grade hydrocarbon ceramic PCB. The unit also features an upgraded OV4627A DAC I/V stage utilizing tantalum resistors and replaces standard electrolytic capacitors in the amplifier stage with Audio Note Kaisei capacitors. At its core, the device utilizes a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC and incorporates JVCKENWOOD’s K2HD Technology.

Levine has contributed two exclusive digital filters, one optimized for PCM playback and another for DSD. The device supports Bluetooth 5.4, including aptX Lossless and LDAC, and includes a desktop mode to bypass the internal battery when used as a stationary unit. The iDSD GR2 MT is priced at $699 USD, £699, €729, or CA$799.99.
