IFM Investors and Mapletree expand Asian investment footprint
Major institutional investors are expanding their footprint in the Asian private credit and logistics sectors.
Australia-based IFM Investors has launched a new office in Singapore to deploy between US$250 million and US$300 million in debt capital across South and Southeast Asia. The initiative aims to target small and medium-sized enterprises, renewable energy, and manufacturing sectors. The expansion is supported by a A$175 million commitment from the Australian government via its Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility.
Separately, Mapletree Investments has secured over US$500 million for the first close of its Mapletree Emerging Growth Asia Logistics Private Trust (MEGA). This capital includes US$250 million in fund commitments and over US$250 million through joint ventures and co-investments in Malaysia.
The MEGA strategy aims for a total investment value of US$2.1 billion once fully deployed, focusing on logistics development in Malaysia, Vietnam, and India. The fund seeks to capitalize on rising demand for modern logistics facilities driven by manufacturing activity and supply chain diversification in the region.
